Labor Law Specialist (German Employment Law) (m/f/d)
Job Description
As our Labor Law Specialist, you will be the go-to expert on German employment law, ensuring our HR policies, employment contracts, and workplace practices are fully compliant with national regulations. You will play a key role in fostering constructive relationships with employee representatives and supporting strategic workforce decisions.
Your Role in Our Space Mission: Legal Compliance & Advisory

Advise HR and leadership on all aspects of labor law with the focus on German labor law, Norwegian, Swedish and U.S. knowledge is definitely a plus.

Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and internal policies.

Monitor and interpret changes in labor legislation. Deduct actions accordingly. Works Council & Union Relations

Serve as a liaison between the company and works councils/unions.

Support negotiations and consultations on co-determination matters.

Draft and review works agreements. Contract & Policy Management

Draft, review, and update employment contracts and HR policies.

Ensure documentation complies with the Written Evidence Act (Nachweisgesetz). Dispute Resolution & Risk Management

Support internal investigations and conflict resolution.

Represent the company in labor court proceedings when necessary. Training & Awareness
-
Conduct internal training sessions on individual and collective labor law topics.

Promote awareness on rights and obligations for both sides, employees and employer.
Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in Law (LL.M. or equivalent), with specialization in German labor law.

Minimum 10 years of experience in employment law, preferably in a corporate or industrial setting.

Proven experience working with works councils and unions.

Strong understanding of collective labor law, co-determination rights, and employment contract law.

Excellent Communication: Ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal stakeholders.

Negotiation Skills: Skilled in facilitating agreements and resolving conflicts constructively.

Analytical Thinking: Strong ability to interpret legal texts and assess implications.

Discretion & Integrity: Handles sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.

Collaboration: Works effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.

Fluent in German and English.
