The Role
Lead production engineering strategy and mentor teams toward operational excellence. This permanent hybrid role in London combines architectural leadership with hands-on infrastructure work across cloud and on-premise environments.
What You'll Do

Architecture & Design: Own system reliability, scalability, and operability for core modeling/simulation platforms across multiple engineering teams

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement production reliability strategy for cloud and on-premise deployments

Mentorship: Up-skill the engineering organization through training, best practices, and coaching on reliability principles

Infrastructure: Design and operate robust automation leveraging Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code

Observability: Own observability strategy, evolving in-house tools and integrating monitoring solutions
-
SLO Management: Partner with product teams to define Service Level Objectives and error budgets
-
Incident Response: Lead incident management and conduct blameless post-mortems
-
On-Call Rotation: Participate in troubleshooting critical production incidents
Requirements
-
Required: Senior/principal-level experience in SRE, production engineering, or DevOps with proven architectural leadership
-
Strong mentoring background with demonstrable team up-skilling experience
-
Software engineering proficiency in Go, C++, Rust, or Python
-
Kubernetes expertise across diverse production environments
-
Deep observability knowledge (Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger, Tempo)
-
Cloud platform experience (GCP, AWS, Azure) plus on-premise/air-gapped systems
-
Commitment to automation and operational excellence
-
Strong stakeholder communication skills
-
Clearance requirement: Ability to obtain UK government SC clearance; minimum 5-year UK residency
