Space System Engineer
Job Description
About TRL Space
We're building the next generation of small satellites — and preparing everything needed to operate them in orbit. To strengthen our technical leadership, we're looking for a System Engineer who will take ownership of the overall system design, ensure technical excellence across all subsystems, and guide our teams toward successful satellite missions.
What you'll work on
You'll take the lead in turning satellite concepts into real spacecrafts — from first sketches and trade-offs to final integration and launch readiness. You'll connect all engineering disciplines, guide decisions that shape the mission, and make sure the system works flawlessly as one.
Your mission will include:
-
Taking ownership of the complete system engineering lifecycle – from concept definition to on-orbit readiness.
-
Translating mission goals into clear requirements and system architecture, including interface control and verification plans.
-
Coordinating subsystem teams and suppliers, ensuring clear technical communication and system-level integrity.
-
Leading technical reviews, partners discussions, and performing design trade-offs.
-
Working closely with the program management to align technical progress with project milestones and mission goals.
-
Collaborating with the Business Development team to assess the feasibility of new opportunities and proposals.
-
Acting as a mentor and system-thinking advocate across multiple projects, helping teams design smarter, more innovative solutions.
What you bring
-
Proven experience in all design phases of a spacecraft design cycle – from concept to launch.
-
Solid understanding of spacecraft systems engineering and ECSS-compliant procedures also including ECSS tailoring.
-
Experience with interface control, verification & validation including hands-on system-level testing.
-
Ability to lead discussions with suppliers and partners while keeping the company needs in focus.
-
Strong communication skills, structured thinking, and leadership in a multidisciplinary environment.
-
A collaborative spirit and curiosity to keep learning and improving.
-
Willingness to work on-site in Brno, Czech Republic.
Why join us
We aim to be a global company delivering complete space missions — from concept to orbit. As our System Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to:
-
Shape our technical direction and be a key decision-maker in mission design.
-
Lead and mentor talented engineers working on multiple projects.
-
Enjoy high autonomy and space for innovation
-
Join a supportive, open environment where your ideas matter and your impact is visible.
-
Work with a team of 50+ engineers and space professionals sharing the same passion for building what flies.
