Job Description

Do you want to own the technical integrity of a mission from "blank sheet" to flight-ready hardware?

GomSpace is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to drive our next generation of Nanosatellite and Microsatellite missions. We are looking for a technical visionary who thrives on solving complex system trade-offs for both bespoke single-satellite missions and scaling constellation architectures. In this role, you will navigate the newest market developments, helping our customers transition from initial technology demonstrators to operational fleets.

Since 2007, GomSpace has developed and delivered satellites to customers across more than 60 countries worldwide through technological innovation and the efforts of our highly skilled team.

You will have the chance to be part of an international and dedicated team committed to providing exceptional and innovative small-satellite solutions to customers in the global market. Your objectives will be aligned with your personal development goals, and you will be given the autonomy to lead others towards the same direction.

About the Job

As a Lead Systems Engineer in the Satellite Systems Business Unit, you are the technical heart of the mission. You aren't just managing requirements; you are architecting the system and ensuring its physical realization. You will bridge the gap between customer vision and engineering execution, guiding teams through the full development lifecycle. You will have the autonomy to make high-impact technical decisions across a diverse portfolio, ensuring exceptional performance for single spacecraft and emerging constellation projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Defining and Architecting end-to-end missions, scaling designs from high-performance single satellites to repeatable constellation architectures.

  • Driving the full development lifecycle, from proposal response and mission analysis to design, assembly, integration, and testing (AIT).

  • Serving as the Technical Authority in front of the customer, translating complex needs into robust system specifications and verifiable requirements.

  • Process Excellence: Designing and implementing value-added engineering processes that maintain high quality without sacrificing the speed required in an agile "New Space" environment.

  • Leading and Mentoring project systems teams to solve the industry's toughest challenges in power, thermal, and high-precision pointing.

  • Managing complex interfaces and risk profiles, ensuring seamless integration between payload, bus, and launch providers.

Your profile

You are a driven and dedicated professional with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, advanced solutions. You thrive in collaborative and agile environments.

  • Proven Experience: Significant years in a Lead or Senior Systems role within the space industry. Experience taking a satellite through the full "design-to-test" lifecycle is essential.

  • Process Champion: You have a deep understanding of where to focus effort in the engineering process. You are skilled at implementing streamlined workflows that add genuine value and encourage team adoption in fast-paced environments.

  • The "System" Thinker: You understand how a single component change can affect mission-level link budgets, thermal margins, or mass properties.

  • Cross-Disciplinary Communicator: Comfortable discussing software configurations with developers, high-speed data links with RF engineers, structural margins with mechanical leads, etc.—everything that goes into a satellite solution.

  • Leadership through Action: You foster a culture of helpfulness and open communication, leading by example in both technical depth and professional integrity.

This position is based in Denmark (Aalborg) or Luxembourg (Esch-sur-Alzette). The expected travel activity is 15 -40 days per year, and we are highly receptive to international applicants.

Qualifications:

  • MSc-level (or higher) engineering education in aerospace, systems, software, electrical engineering, or related fields.

  • Mastery of ECSS/NASA standards, with the ability to tailor these processes to be effective and agile.

  • Expertise in systems engineering principles, including requirements management, architecture, and system-level verification and testing.

  • Proficiency in mission analysis tools (e.g., STK, GMAT) for coverage, revisit, and orbital analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to design and drive engineering processes that improve team efficiency and product reliability.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks in space missions or projects.

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

Why choose GomSpace?

  • Growth: Providing leadership within a leading space-industry company where innovation and advanced technologies are used to make a positive societal impact.

  • Impact: Working alongside passionate, skilled, and international colleagues, driven by curiosity about "New Space" opportunities.

  • Culture: Operating in a dynamic and cooperative culture with transparent communication and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Network: Learning and growing through the company's global network of locations and partnerships.

  • International: Being part of project work based on international standards and team-oriented approaches.
