Job Description

Are you ready to apply your engineering rigor to the future of space?

GomSpace is looking for a Systems Engineer with 2–8 years of experience to join our growing team. We are looking for a methodical, adaptable professional who wants to move beyond theory and get hands-on with the technical integrity of a mission—from initial "blank sheet" concepts to flight-ready hardware. Whether your background is in the space industry or an adjacent high-tech sector like automotive or defense, we value your ability to manage complexity and deliver reliable results.

Since 2007, GomSpace has developed and delivered satellites to customers across more than 60 countries worldwide through technological innovation and the efforts of our highly skilled team.

You will have the chance to be part of an international and dedicated team committed to providing exceptional and innovative small-satellite solutions to customers in the global market. Your objectives will be aligned with your personal development goals, and you will be given the autonomy to lead others towards the same direction.

About the Job

As a Systems Engineer in the Satellite Systems Business Unit, you will be a key member of a dynamic team responsible for the physical realization of our missions. You aren't just managing data; you are ensuring that requirements, architecture, and design converge into a high-performance spacecraft. You will contribute to the full development lifecycle, supporting both bespoke single-satellite missions and scaling constellation projects. At GomSpace, your development is a priority, and you will have the support to grow your expertise while making a tangible impact on "New Space" technology.

Responsibilities include:

  • Technical Design & Analysis: Contributing to mission and spacecraft architectures for single satellites and emerging fleets.

  • Lifecycle Engagement: Supporting the development process from proposal and mission analysis through to design, assembly, integration, and testing (AIT).

  • Requirements Management: Translating customer needs into clear, verifiable technical specifications and managing their realization.

  • Process Application: Utilizing and refining value-added engineering processes that ensure quality and reliability in a fast-paced environment.

  • Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Managing technical interfaces to ensure payload, bus, and launch systems work together seamlessly.

  • Risk Assessment: Identifying and mitigating technical risks within your project scope to ensure mission success.

Your profile

You are a methodical professional who thrives in collaborative environments. You are adaptable to changing project needs but remain disciplined in your engineering approach.

  • Experience: 2–8 years of experience in systems engineering or a related high-complexity field (e.g., Space, Automotive, Aerospace, or Defense).

  • The "System" Thinker: You are interested in how a single component change can affect mission-level link budgets, thermal margins, or mass properties.

  • Adaptable & Methodical: You have a "systems mindset," understanding how individual components influence the whole. You appreciate the value of process and documentation in achieving reliability.

  • Lifecycle Focus: You may have specialized experience in a specific phase—such as architecture and analysis or AIV/AIT—but you are eager to understand and contribute to the full lifecycle.

  • Communicator: Comfortable collaborating with specialized engineers across software, RF, and mechanical disciplines.

  • Values-Driven: You embody a culture of helpfulness, open communication, and professional integrity.

This position is based in Denmark (Aalborg) or Luxembourg (Esch-sur-Alzette). The expected travel activity is 15 -40 days per year, and we are highly receptive to international applicants.

Qualifications:

  • MSc-level (or higher) engineering education (Aerospace, Systems, Software, Electrical, or similar).

  • Knowledge of systems engineering principles (requirements management, V&V, and architecture).

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks in space missions or projects.

  • Experience with (or interest in) space standards (ECSS/NASA) or equivalent high-reliability standards from other industries.

  • Familiarity with engineering tools such as CAD, mission analysis software (STK/GMAT), or scripting (Python/Matlab) is an advantage.

  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.

Why choose GomSpace?

  • Growth: A unique opportunity to transition your engineering skills into the space industry.

  • Impact: Working alongside passionate, skilled, and international colleagues, driven by curiosity about "New Space" opportunities.

  • Culture: Operating in a dynamic and cooperative culture with transparent communication and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Network: Learning and growing through the company's global network of locations and partnerships.

  • International: Being part of project work based on international standards and team-oriented approaches.
