RF Engineer – RF Architecture and System Design for Nano and Microsatellites

Your Role As an RF Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team designing and developing RF solutions for nano and microsatellites. You will drive RF architecture and system design for customers across defense, earth observation, communications, and science missions – from early concept through production‑ready hardware.

About the team You'll be working in GomSpace's RF engineering team with other talented engineers focused on delivering state‑of‑the‑art RF solutions. Our team collaborates with systems engineers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, and project managers to deliver robust satellite systems that meet the highest standards.

Your Tasks

• Define RF architecture and conduct system design for satellite platforms and mission‑specific RF payloads.

• Conduct link budget analysis, frequency coordination, and RF propagation analysis.

• Select and qualify RF components and conduct design trade studies.

• Perform RF simulation and modeling – CST Studio, HFSS, ADS, SystemVue or similar tools.

• Prepare RF specifications for vendors and manage RF technical interfaces with customers and suppliers.

• Design and plan RF test campaigns, including measurement setups and test procedures.

• Troubleshoot RF issues in development and production.

• Maintain and update RF technical documentation.

• Contribute to the wider company RF knowledge base by sharing learnings and best practices.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of RF engineering experience in a technical role with proven system design and hands‑on RF development work.

• Strong working knowledge of RF design principles, system integration, and practical RF engineering.

• Hands‑on RF testing experience and troubleshooting.

• Strong background in RF simulation and modeling tools (CST Studio, HFSS, ADS, SystemVue, or similar).

• Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and collaborative skills.

• Experience with antenna design and design trade studies.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Proficiency in English.

Nice to have

• Experience with satellite RF systems, space heritage, or aerospace applications.

• Knowledge of RF test setups for space applications.

• Experience with RF measurement tools and instrumentation.

• Experience with design for manufacturing and quality assurance in RF.
