Why this role matters:

As an Engineering Lead in Mechanical Engineering, you will guide the design and development of critical mechanical systems for ICEYE's world-leading synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite constellation. You'll lead a team of mechanical engineers to deliver innovative solutions that enable space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities for governments and allied nations. Your leadership will directly contribute to helping these partners detect and respond to critical changes anywhere on Earth with unprecedented speed and accuracy.

This includes sovereign and turnkey ISR missions leveraging ICEYE's world-leading synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology, as well as access to data from the world's largest SAR satellite constellation. These capabilities enable partners to detect and respond to critical changes anywhere on Earth with unprecedented speed and accuracy, day or night and in any weather, supported by ultra high-resolution imagery and high-frequency revisits.

The Role

You will be responsible for leading the mechanical engineering function. Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers

• Guide design and development of mechanical systems and components

• Ensure technical excellence and adherence to space standards

• Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources

• Interface with cross-functional teams (avionics, software, systems)

• Drive continuous improvement and innovation in mechanical design

• Represent the team in technical reviews and steering meetings

• Contribute to technical documentation and design governance

• Support supplier management and manufacturing process improvements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

• 10+ years of professional experience in mechanical design/engineering (3+ years in a leadership role)

• Proven track record of leading technical teams

• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and best practices

• Experience with mechanical design tools (CAD, FEA analysis)

• Experience with high-reliability systems (preferably space or aerospace)

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities

• Ability to work collaboratively across teams

• Fluency in English

• Working knowledge of ISO standards (e.g., IEC 61508) and space standards (e.g., ECSS) is beneficial

• Familiarity with system-level design and integration is a plus
