About the Company
Established in 2017, Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company, based in Toulouse, pushing the boundaries of in-orbit services with cutting-edge spacecraft driven by its own Rendez-Vous solution, an advanced Autonomous Vision-Based Navigation Solution. IO has two generations of missions
-
"Orbit Guard" provides Inspection and Space Situational Awareness services in GEO. Our first, OG-1 was launched on 1 May 2023, the second is launching in 2025 and the third third launching in 2026.
-
"Endurance" is a docking service capable of extending the life of GEO telecom satellites, by taking over AOCS takeover for 5 years.
About the Role
The Flight Operations Engineer is to define and develop the operations concept and procedures for a Geo-orbit satellites providing space-based services such as Space Situational Awareness (SSA).
Initially, the role will focus on transforming high-level Concepts of Operations (ConOps), subsystem specifications, and software/equipment documentation into a cohesive Flight Operations architecture. Over time, this position will evolve to include hands-on execution of flight operations once the satellite becomes operational.
Job Description
Phase 1 – Design & Definition:
-
Analyze mission-level Concepts of Operations (ConOps) and derive detailed Flight Operations concepts and requirements.
-
Define operational modes, sequences, and decision trees for nominal and off-nominal scenarios.
-
Interface with spacecraft subsystem teams (ADCS, thermal, propulsion, communications, etc.) to understand equipment capabilities, constraints, and telemetry/command interfaces.
-
Collaborate with ground segment, mission planning, and software teams to define required tools and interfaces.
-
Develop and document:
-
Operations Concepts (ConOps)
-
Flight Operations Manual (FOM)
-
Flight Operating Procedures (FOPs)
-
Contingency and anomaly response plans
-
Participate in system integration and test campaigns to validate operational concepts and procedures in simulated environments.
Phase 2 – Operations Execution:

Support or lead day-to-day mission operations post-launch, including planning, commanding, and monitoring of spacecraft activities.
-
Participate in shift rotations for LEOP (Launch and Early Orbit Phase) and commissioning, as needed.
-
Monitor spacecraft health and safety, investigate anomalies, and execute recovery actions.
-
Interface with external customers or users services to ensure mission responsiveness and data continuity.
-
Continuously refine operational procedures based on in-flight data and lessons learned.

3+ years of experience in satellite mission operations or flight systems engineering (preferably LEO or GEO missions).
-
Strong understanding of spacecraft subsystems and ground segment interactions.
-
Experience writing technical documentation and procedures.
-
Familiarity with operational software tools (e.g., SCOS-2000).
-
Comfortable working across multiple teams and managing ambiguity in early mission phases.

-
Experience with GEO satellite operations.
-
Experience with test campaigns and spacecraft simulators.
-
Python experience for tools automation or telemetry analysis.
