OKAPI:Orbits is an innovative German SaaS startup focused on space sustainability through satellite collision avoidance software, providing end-to-end solutions for Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and Space Traffic Management (STM).

The Role

Design constellations and space missions of tomorrow while ensuring sustainability. Responsibilities span multiple project phases, with focus on systems optimization that meets international space debris standards and enhances satellite safety.

What You'll Do

• Execute mission design optimization and debris mitigation compliance reviews for diverse clients

• Create software solutions for mission design and compliance products modeling the space environment

• Contribute to proposals for the European Space Agency and German Aerospace Center

• Own work packages including implementation, analysis, and documentation

Requirements

• Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Space Engineering, or Applied Mathematics with mission design background

• 3+ years commercial space industry experience

• Scientific programming expertise (Fortran, Python, GitLab)

• Mission simulation experience including coverage and revisit analysis

• Strong English communication; German proficiency valued

• Valid Germany/EU work authorization

Nice to Have

• Space Debris Mitigation Guidelines knowledge

• ECSS standards experience

• Familiarity with ESA's DRAMA/MASTER or STK tools

• Experience with Jira, GitLab, Confluence
