The Role

Photonic Component Designer position creating broadband passive devices for I/O coupling and polarization management, plus high-speed active components.

What You Will Do

• Design and benchmark passive and active photonic components

• Perform fabrication-tolerant design optimization

• Develop test structures and apply design-for-test (DFT) methods

• Component and circuit layout work

• Deliver PDK-ready building blocks

• Apply design-for-functionality best practices

Requirements

• Required: M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical, Computer, Systems, or Optical Engineering

• Expertise in integrated photonics device physics and modeling

• Proven skills designing fabrication-tolerant passive components (grating couplers, edge couplers, polarization devices)

• Experience with active component design and optimization

• Background in integrated photonics platforms (preferably SiN)

• Proficiency with Lumerical tools (Mode, FDTD, Multiphysics)

• Python programming and Git familiarity

• Experience with layout tools (gdsfactory, Nazca, OptoDesigner)

• Hands-on test structure development and DFT experience

Nice to Have

• Optical link simulation knowledge

• Photonic lab characterization experience

• Design for manufacturability (DFM) understanding

• PDK building block development experience
