Senior Structures Design Engineer (m/f/d)
Job Description
As part of the structural design team, you will be responsible for the design and development of the primary and secondary structures of the Spectrum launch vehicle. You will be involved in the assessment of existing and new design concepts and provide technical guidance to other design engineers, while developing critical systems yourself.
Your Role in Our Space Mission:

Design and develop composite and metallic structures for the Spectrum launch vehicle

Be responsible for the development of critical primary structures, respective interfaces and adjacent secondary structures
-
Create CAD models, manufacturing and integration drawings including BOM
-
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams (Analysis, Production, Assembly & Integration, Testing, Quality, Avionics etc) to deliver robust, innovative, and optimized structural solutions that meet project requirements and high-quality standards to derive a fully qualified product

Provide general guidance for structural development

Define and establish design standards, best practices and design documentation
-
Review designs and manufacturing drawings of the structures team
-
Prepare detailed road maps for the development of the products and maintain their related timelines up to date
-
Host weekly meetings with the affected stakeholders to ensure the efficient development of the product
-
Prepare design reviews, risk assessments, trade-off studies etc.

Provide an agile answer to production and assembly Non-Conformities
-
Definition of necessary Requirements and Engineering Change Requests

Company focal point for external suppliers
-
Mentor and provide technical guidance for design challenges in the team
Qualification Checklist
-
MSc. in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or similar
-
8+ years professional experience in aerospace structures design
-
Excellent knowledge in lightweight and composite structures design
-
Good knowledge of carbon composite manufacturing processes
-
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
-
Fluent in English
Bonus Skills
-
Practical experience with propellant tank and pressure vessel design
-
Practical experience in launch vehicle development program
-
Strong practical experience with SolidWorks, Siemens NX or similar CAD software
-
Practical experience with Material Qualification and composite manufacturing techniques
-
Up to date on the latest industry trends, materials, and technologies
-
German language skills
