The Role

Develop and deploy machine learning methods for robotic manipulation, working at the intersection of machine learning, robotics, and systems engineering.

What You'll Do

• Research and benchmark state-of-the-art robot learning approaches including VLA models, diffusion policies, reinforcement learning, and imitation learning

• Adapt academic models for practical deployment on RobCo's modular robots

• Train and fine-tune models using company datasets and simulation environments

• Integrate learned policies with perception and control systems

• Build scalable training and evaluation pipelines with infrastructure teams

• Define performance metrics and create automated evaluation procedures

• Analyze model performance and drive continuous improvements

• Ensure safety, reliability, and real-time performance through collaboration with robotics engineers

• Contribute to research planning and technical decisions

• Mentor junior team members and establish ML best practices

Requirements

• Master's degree in Machine Learning, Robotics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering

• Hands-on experience with robot learning, reinforcement learning, or deep learning

• Strong Python proficiency with PyTorch or JAX experience

• Model training and evaluation experience from academic or industry backgrounds

• Robotics familiarity or ML deployment experience

Nice to Have

• ROS 2 knowledge

• Scalable training tools (Ray, Anyscale)

• Robotic datasets experience
