Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Mechanical Engineer
1. On a mission
At DeltaQuad, you'll work on technology that truly matters. As a pioneer in long-range electric VTOL drones, we build robust platforms in collaboration with trusted partners, deployed worldwide across defence, agriculture, and inspection. Our drones are reliable, user-friendly, and built to perform in demanding environments.
We combine technical innovation with a pragmatic approach. What we do today determines where we'll be tomorrow, and you'll play a crucial role in that journey.
Our core values:
-
Partnerships: We grow together through long-term collaboration and shared success.
-
Customer focus: We think and act based on our customers' needs.
-
Ownership: We take responsibility for what we do.
-
Innovation: We seek smart, practical solutions that work.
-
Excellence: We aim for quality and results.
-
Team spirit: We build trust, growth and enjoyment together.
2. The role
As a Mechanical Engineer at DeltaQuad, you take technical ownership of the mechanical design and structural integrity of advanced UAV platforms. You are responsible for the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems and structures, ensuring strength, durability, weight efficiency, and manufacturability.
You work on airframe structures, propulsion integration, mechanical subsystems, and payload interfaces, taking designs from concept through prototyping, testing, and series production. You apply your knowledge of materials like composites, structural mechanics, fatigue, and thermal considerations to deliver robust solutions that perform reliably in harsh operational environments.
You enjoy solving complex mechanical challenges, balancing performance, weight, cost, and producibility. Your work directly contributes to safe, reliable, and scalable UAV platforms deployed in real-world missions across Europe and beyond.
Your work contributes to meaningful innovations that strengthen safety, resilience and response capabilities across Europe.
3. Key tasks and responsibilities
-
Design and develop lightweight mechanical systems and structures for VTOL UAV platforms using CAD tools
-
Perform structural analyses (static, fatigue, vibration) using FEM and analytical methods
-
Select and apply materials and manufacturing processes, including composite materials, based on material science principles
-
Design for manufacturability, assembly, and maintenance (DFM/DFA)
-
Integrate propulsion systems, payloads, landing gear, and mechanical subsystems into the airframe
-
Support prototyping, testing, and validation, including ground and flight test activities
-
Manage mechanical interfaces, tolerances, and structural requirements across disciplines
-
Collaborate closely with systems, aerodynamics, electrical, software, and production teams
-
Support the transition from prototype to scalable series production while ensuring consistent quality
-
Work with PDM/PLM + ERP systems to keep track of revisions and releases
4. What you bring
-
A bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
-
At least 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, structural engineering, or product development
-
Strong knowledge of materials, structural mechanics, and manufacturing techniques
-
Experience with CAD tools (e.g. SolidWorks, 3d and FEA tools)
-
Experience with UAVs, aerospace, automotive, or high-tech mechatronic systems is a strong plus
-
Hands-on, analytical, and precise, you enjoy turning concepts into working hardware
-
A team player who communicates clearly and takes ownership
5. What we offer
-
Coaching and professional growth opportunities.
-
27 vacation days (based on full-time).
-
38-hour workweek with flexible working hours.
-
Travel reimbursement of β¬0.23/km or a fully covered NS Business Card.
-
Excellent pension scheme through the PME pension fund.
-
Work in an innovative, high-tech environment with real-world impact.
-
