About ALL.SPACE
ALL.SPACE seeks a Lead Hardware Engineer in Reading to oversee hardware subsystem design, development, and validation from concept through production while managing an engineering team.
The Role
The Hardware Engineering Lead is responsible for leading the design, development, and validation of hardware subsystems from concept through production while managing the day-to-day operations of the hardware engineering team. This role combines technical leadership and people management to ensure hardware designs meet subsystem-level specifications, are fully validated, and delivered on time and within budget.
What You'll Do
Technical Project Leadership:

Serve as technical lead for hardware subsystem and system-level initiatives

Establish technical requirements and performance specifications collaboratively
-
Ensure designs meet subsystem-level standards for performance and reliability
-
Conduct formal Critical Design Reviews and Test Readiness Reviews
-
Manage technical execution, resources, and project milestones
-
Identify and mitigate technical and program risks
Hardware Design & Validation:
-
Oversee schematic design, PCB layout, and component selection
-
Guide hardware bring-up, debugging, and system integration
-
Review design documentation and verification reports
-
Support certification and environmental qualification testing (EMI/EMC, thermal, vibration)
Team & People Management:

Manage hardware engineering team staffing and performance
-
Conduct one-on-ones and career development discussions
-
Recruit, onboard, and train engineers and technicians
-
Mentor staff and foster collaborative engineering culture
Requirements
-
Required: Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical, Computer Engineering, or related field
-
8+ years professional hardware design and development
-
3+ years in technical leadership or hardware management roles
-
Proven track record leading PDR, CDR, and TRR processes
Technical Skills:
-
Expertise in analog, digital, RF, power, or mixed-signal circuit design
-
Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium)
-
System integration, signal integrity, and DFM/DFT understanding
-
Hardware validation, debugging, and test automation experience
Nice to Have
-
High-reliability or regulated industry experience (aerospace, automotive, medical, defense)
-
Agile or hybrid development process implementation experience
-
PLM/ERP systems and hardware configuration management exposure
