The company's core technology exploits nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centres in synthetic diamonds — atomic-scale defects that respond to magnetic fields with extreme sensitivity. This allows QuantumDiamonds to image electrical current flow inside complex chip packages non-destructively, detecting shorts, leakages and open failures at resolutions down to 1 micrometre. Compared with conventional inspection methods, the approach delivers 100 to 1,000 times lower noise and works across chip types including SoCs, wafer-level packages, interposers, hybrid bonding, power electronics and advanced memory.

The company's QDm.1 microscope reached commercial availability and has been validated through proof-of-concept projects with 9 of the world's 10 largest chipmakers, with initial European deployments completed and installations in the US and Taiwan scheduled for 2026. In December 2025, QuantumDiamonds announced plans for a €152 million facility in Munich to scale production of its quantum-based chip inspection systems, with partial public funding expected from German federal and Bavarian state programmes under the European Chips Act.
