Job Description
Mission
As Marketing & Communications Manager at Rift, you will shape how the company is understood by governments, security organisations, infrastructure operators, future employees, and the wider public.
Your objective: turn a complex, strategic technology into a clear and compelling story, establish Rift as a leading voice in European defence and security, and build the marketing foundations that will support our growth across France and Europe.
You’ll work closely with the founders, Sales, Operations, and Engineering teams. From defining our positioning to documenting field deployments, preparing major announcements, and representing Rift at strategic events, you’ll own our voice across every channel.
You’ll also be responsible for the quality of everything Rift publishes. From a LinkedIn post to a strategic presentation or product video, every word, image, and detail should reflect the ambition, precision, and credibility of the company.
This is not a role focused on producing content for the sake of content. You’ll communicate technologies and missions that have a direct impact on Europe’s security, sovereignty, and resilience.
What you’ll do
Brand & positioning – Define and continuously sharpen Rift’s narrative, messaging, and visual identity. Make sure our technology, mission, and differentiation are immediately clear to every audience.
Content strategy – Build and manage our editorial roadmap across the website, LinkedIn, newsletters, videos, case studies, technical explainers, and company announcements. Ensure every piece is clear, accurate, distinctive, and worth publishing.
Field storytelling – Work alongside our technical and operations teams to capture flight tests, deployments, product milestones, and real-world missions. Turn what happens in the field into credible, high-impact content.
Institutional communications – Create clear materials for ministries, armed forces, local authorities, infrastructure operators, investors, and strategic partners.
Press relations – Build trusted relationships with journalists across defence, technology, and business media. Prepare press releases, interviews, media briefings, and major company announcements.
Executive communications – Support the founders in developing opinion pieces, speeches, presentations, interviews, and public positions on drones, security, sovereignty, and European industrial strategy.
Events & influence – Identify and organise Rift’s presence at strategic conferences, defence exhibitions, demonstrations, and institutional events. Make every appearance useful, consistent, and memorable.
Sales enablement – Work closely with the Sales team to create pitch decks, customer presentations, use cases, videos, and other materials that help move complex opportunities forward.
Employer brand – Show what it means to build and operate strategic aerospace technology at Rift. Help attract exceptional candidates through authentic stories about the team, workplace, and mission.
Content & visual quality – Maintain a high standard across copy, photography, video, presentations, social media, and event materials. Review details such as wording, hierarchy, typography, image selection, cropping, subtitles, and formatting before publication.
Performance & distribution – Set clear objectives, measure what works, and continuously improve our channels, campaigns, and content distribution.
What we’re looking for
-
Strong experience, typically around 5+ years, in marketing, communications, brand, content, or public relations.
-
Excellent writing and editorial judgement in both French and English. You can make complex technical subjects clear without making them simplistic.
-
A strong understanding of institutional, industrial, or B2B audiences. Experience in aerospace, defence, security, robotics, infrastructure, or deep tech is a plus.
-
You know how to move between strategy and execution: defining a narrative in the morning, interviewing an engineer in the afternoon, and publishing the final story the next day.
-
You’re comfortable working with technical teams and asking enough questions to understand how a product truly works.
-
You have strong visual instincts and can maintain a high standard across presentations, photography, video, web content, and social media.
-
You have a strong attention to detail. You notice weak copy, inconsistent layouts, poorly selected visuals, inaccurate information, and anything that reduces the credibility of the final result.
-
You care about the last 10% of the work: refining a sentence, improving a title, adjusting a crop, simplifying a slide, or removing what is unnecessary.
-
You can manage external partners such as journalists, photographers, videographers, designers, and agencies, and provide clear feedback when the quality is not high enough.
-
You understand that communications in the security and defence ecosystem require accuracy, judgement, confidentiality, and credibility.
-
Strong entrepreneurial mindset: autonomous, resourceful, highly organised, and able to prioritise quickly.
-
Fluent in French and English.
-
A portfolio demonstrating strong editorial and visual judgement will be expected.
Don’t worry if your profile doesn’t match every point. If this sounds like the right mission for you, we’d love to hear from you.
How we work
-
Boldness is encouraged, we’d rather break the rules than follow them blindly.
-
We share both successes and failures openly: learning fast means failing fast.
-
We value initiative, agility, and ownership. Everyone is encouraged to take the lead and help move things forward.
-
We care personally and challenge directly: honest feedback early and often, without ego.
