FEM World Model
The Free Energy Minimizing (FEM) world model is Stanhope AI's core autonomous decision-making platform. It uses a hierarchical Active Inference architecture that enables robots and drones to plan flexible missions, reason about their environment and adapt to conditions they were not explicitly trained on. The model allows agents to describe their own reasoning, supporting human-machine teaming. FEMalpha is the first published iteration, demonstrated on autonomous drones across three distinct real-world missions.

About

Stanhope AI is a London-based deep-tech startup that applies neuroscience research to build autonomous AI for physical systems. Founded by Professor Rosalyn Moran, a computational neuroscientist, the company emerged from research conducted at University College London and King's College London on the Free Energy Principle — a mathematical theory of how brains process information and act in the world. Registered in England and Wales (Company No. 13271847), the company set out to bring this academic work into real engineering applications.
