The core insight behind the company is that machine-based robots are expensive, fragile and short-lived in the environments where intelligence is most needed. By using biology as the chassis, SWARM delivers persistent, low-signature presence in GPS-denied terrain, collapsed structures and urban environments where drones, dogs and humans reach their limits. The system provides what the company calls 'the last 50 metres' — close-range reconnaissance in subterranean, cluttered and politically sensitive spaces that conventional technology cannot access.

In under two years the company grew to 40+ engineers and scientists across Germany and the US. CEO Stefan Wilhelm announced in February 2026 that systems had completed field validation in European and US operating environments and that the Bundeswehr and NATO forces were paying customers. The company raised €13 million in total — a €3 million pre-seed and a €10 million seed round closed in June 2025.
