Its flagship platform, the SDO 50 V3, is a turbine-powered unmanned helicopter with a maximum takeoff weight of 87 kg, a useful payload exceeding 20 kg and an endurance of over three hours. The aircraft integrates a broad range of sensor payloads including EO/IR gimbals, LiDAR, synthetic aperture radar, methane detection systems and mobile phone location technology. SwissDrones holds EASA Light UAS Operator Certificate authorisation for BVLOS operations and has flown missions in more than 14 countries with regulatory approvals in 35.

The company counts among its customers energy utilities, civil protection agencies and aerospace research organisations. Notable deployments include the world's first 550 km UAV pipeline inspection in Australia, BVLOS power line flights exceeding 100 km in Belgium with Elia Group, and radioactive particle monitoring missions with the Swiss Federal Office for Civil Protection. In June 2025, Southern Company became SwissDrones' first US customer, deploying the SDO 50 for power line and natural gas infrastructure monitoring across the Southeast.

SwissDrones closed a Series B round of over $10 million in April 2024, backed by DiamondStream Partners, Chevron Technology Ventures and Ingleside Investors, to expand globally and develop its integrated aerial intelligence offering.
