The Wingcopter 198 is built around dual-battery redundancy, eight motors with independent speed controllers, and triple-drop payload capability, making it suited for beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) logistics, LiDAR-based infrastructure surveying and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions. The same platform serves all three verticals, operating at level 4 autonomy to reduce crew workload.

In February 2026, Wingcopter announced a joint venture with Ukraine's TAF Industries — Ukraine's largest UAV producer — to manufacture reconnaissance drones in Germany. The partnership, signed at the Munich Security Conference and later showcased at the German Chancellor's Office in April 2026 during President Zelenskyy's visit, aims to scale production of TAF Industries' combat-proven reconnaissance systems on German soil under the 'Build with Ukraine' framework. This marked Wingcopter's formal entry into defence through a newly created Security & Defence unit.

The company has raised over €100 million since founding, including a $42 million Series A extension in June 2022 and a €40 million quasi-equity round from the European Investment Bank in May 2023. A further funding round closed in June 2025, bringing in new investor Nordic Secondary Fund alongside the EIB and existing shareholders.
