Rollo Robotics is developing 1ROLLO, an autonomous one-wheeled robotic platform for continuous 24/7 operation in real-world outdoor environments. The role focuses on designing and developing the physical architecture of 1ROLLO from concepts and 3D models to prototypes and production-ready solutions.

What you'll be doing

  • Design and develop the mechanical architecture of 1ROLLO

  • Create detailed 3D models and assemblies in SolidWorks

  • Develop chassis systems, enclosures, mechanical assemblies, sensor mounting solutions, electronics layouts, cooling systems and waterproof solutions for outdoor environments

  • Integrate motors, batteries, control systems and sensors into the robot architecture

  • Work closely with software, electronics and AI teams

  • Build prototypes and participate in testing

  • Select suitable materials and manufacturing methods

  • Optimize designs for weight, durability, cost efficiency and manufacturability

  • Support the transition from prototype to mass production

What they're looking for

  • Strong SolidWorks skills

  • Experience designing mechanical systems or robotic platforms

  • CAD/CAM knowledge

  • Understanding of manufacturing technologies including CNC, 3D printing, sheet metal and injection molding

  • Basic understanding of structural calculations and mechanical analysis

  • Understanding of motors, gear systems and moving mechanisms

  • Strong systems thinking and problem-solving skills

Bonus experience includes robotics, outdoor equipment development, battery systems and thermal management, rapid prototyping, FEA simulations, lightweight structures and manufacturing scale-up.
