Help deliver Europe's next-generation defence projects. As a Project Security Officer, you'll work with EU RESTRICTED information, international partners, compliance and security governance.

Join Milrem's Legal Department and help ensure the secure delivery of international defence and EU-funded projects.

As a Project Security Officer, you will support the handling of classified and restricted information, advise project teams on security requirements, coordinate with international partners, and help ensure compliance with applicable security obligations.

This role requires hands-on experience working with EU RESTRICTED information. Candidates who have worked with classified or restricted information in EU-funded defence projects, government institutions, NATO environments or similar regulated settings are particularly encouraged to apply.

You will work closely with project teams, European Commission representatives, consortium partners and national authorities, helping ensure security requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.

What you'll do
  • Act as Project Security Officer for EU-funded and defence-related projects

  • Coordinate the handling of EU RESTRICTED and other classified or sensitive information

  • Maintain security documentation, records and registries throughout the information lifecycle

  • Support audits, inspections and compliance reviews conducted by national and international authorities

  • Coordinate security incident reporting and corrective actions

  • Review dissemination, communication and publication materials before release

  • Support subcontractor security reviews and approvals

  • Advise project teams on security requirements, procedures and best practices

  • Deliver security-related training and awareness activities

  • Support the Legal team with compliance, regulatory and other related matters

What we're looking for
  • Experience working with EU RESTRICTED information is essential

  • Experience working with classified, restricted or sensitive information

  • Experience in defence, government, security, law enforcement, compliance or another regulated environment

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

  • Ability to interpret and apply security requirements in practice

  • Ability to work confidently with internal and external stakeholders

  • Strong sense of ownership, integrity and professional judgement

  • Professional proficiency in Estonian and English

Location

This role requires Estonian citizenship and is primarily based in Tallinn. Due to the nature of the work, regular on-site presence is required.

Why this role is different:

Project Security Officer is a highly specialised profession that few people enter through a traditional educational path. We therefore welcome candidates from a range of relevant backgrounds, including defence, government, security, compliance and legal environments.

This role sits within Milrem's Legal Department and offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of project security, compliance and legal matters.

While the core responsibility is to act as a Project Security Officer for international defence and EU-funded projects, the role is intentionally broader than project security alone. Depending on your interests, experience and development goals, you will also have opportunities to contribute to legal, compliance and other security-related topics across the organisation.

To apply, please send your application by 05.07.2026 at the latest. We review applications continuously and may contact qualified candidates for interviews before the official deadline.
