Job Description
About the Team
Mission Simulation is STARK’s digital proving ground — the tactical environment where our entire ecosystem of UAVs, surface vessels, and EW systems converges. The Mission Simulation team is a small, specialized group based in Munich, working closely with our platform and C2 teams to integrate all multi-domain assets into high-fidelity, Software-in-the-Loop simulators.
We move fast, ship realistic environments, and build for three core purposes: rigorous testing, high-stakes demos, and tactical training. There is no room for gamification. We simulate the reality of combat — from complex swarm logic to EW degradation — ensuring that developers can fail fast, and real soldiers can train safely before hitting the battlefield.
Your Mission
As an IT Systems Technician, you will be the hands-on force bridging our software and physical hardware. You will physically assemble, configure, and secure our high-performance simulator infrastructures. Whether setting up powerful Windows-based simulation rigs for external demos or configuring robust WSL/Ubuntu environments for our internal developers, you ensure our setups run flawlessly and securely.
Responsibilities
-
Assemble and maintain physical hardware infrastructures, ranging from ruggedized mobile demonstration kits to permanent, high-fidelity Simulation lab environments.
-
Configure dual-ecosystem workstations, ensuring the seamless operation of Windows-based simulation engines alongside WSL/Ubuntu development environments.
-
Implement strict IT security protocols, including firewall configurations and GPOs, for both internal labs and external field deployments.
-
Troubleshoot and resolve physical hardware, operating system, and network bottlenecks directly at the simulation setup alongside the engineering teams.
-
Manage the full physical lifecycle of IT assets within the Mission Simulation team, handling everything from hardware provisioning to structured rack cabling.
-
Automate routine OS installations, network configurations, and system updates using PowerShell or Bash scripts.
Required Skills
-
Completed apprenticeship in IT (e.g., Fachinformatiker für Systemintegration), a degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
-
3+ years of hands-on experience in IT systems administration, network deployment, and physical hardware integration.
-
Deep administrative expertise in both Windows 11 and Linux (Ubuntu) environments, including hands-on experience setting up the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL).
-
Proven ability to implement practical network security measures
-
A strong "builder" mentality with the physical capability and willingness to wire server racks, configure routers, and deploy complex hardware setups under tight deadlines.
Nice-To-Have
-
Experience working within the defense sector or practical familiarity with military IT security standards
-
Fluent English (C1 preferred). German language skills are advantageous but not required.
