About the Job:

The Logistics & Trade Compliance Manager - Germany will manage and improve logistics execution for the German entity while providing practical trade compliance support for German import, export and supplier-facing activity. The role is intended to strengthen local German logistics control, improve the quality of shipment planning and documentation, and support compliance with applicable German, EU and group trade-control requirements.

The post-holder will work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, internal German stakeholders and the UK Head of Logistics & Trade Compliance. They will help translate group logistics and trade compliance standards into workable local German processes, ensuring that shipments are planned, documented, screened, controlled and closed out in a consistent and audit-ready manner.

What You'll Do:

Logistics, Customs & Shipment Control:

  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments for the German entity

  • Manage logistics partners, suppliers, and customs brokers to ensure smooth and cost-effective delivery

  • Prepare and review shipping and customs documentation

  • Ensure accurate customs data, including HS codes, origin, valuation, and Incoterms

  • Track shipments, resolve delays, and escalate risks or compliance issues

  • Maintain complete shipment and customs records

Export Control & Compliance:

  • Support compliance with German and EU export control regulations, including BAFA, dual-use, sanctions, and end-user requirements

  • Gather and maintain technical, commercial, and end-use information for licence and compliance assessments

  • Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to obtain classification and compliance-related data.

  • Support BAFA processes, including ELAN-K2 submissions and documentation

  • Maintain export control records and stay up to date with regulatory requirements

  • Guide suppliers on documentation needed for compliant import/export activities

Documentation, Reporting & Audit Support:

  • Maintain accurate and auditable shipment and compliance records

  • Ensure shipment files include required customs, licensing, and delivery documentation

  • Support audits, due diligence reviews, and information requests

  • Maintain trackers, registers, and document repositories

  • Assist with KPI reporting on shipment performance, compliance, and documentation quality

Desirable Qualifications, Experience & Attributes:

  • 5+ years' experience in logistics, customs, freight forwarding, supply chain, or a related field

  • Strong knowledge of import/export operations, customs documentation, HS codes, country of origin, customs valuation, and Incoterms

  • Familiarity with German and EU trade compliance, including BAFA, dual-use controls, sanctions, and export licensing requirements

  • Experience working with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and cross-functional teams

  • Strong attention to detail, record-keeping, and problem-solving skills

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing business environment

  • Fluent German required for local supplier, authority, broker and stakeholder engagement

Desirable

  • Experience in aerospace, defence, advanced engineering, manufacturing, or other regulated industries

  • Knowledge of BAFA licensing processes, ELAN-K2, export classifications, and end-use documentation

  • Understanding of EU Dual-Use Regulation, sanctions, and trade compliance requirements

  • Experience with controlled technologies, implementing logistics/compliance processes and systems
