Their core technology is an air-breathing electric propulsion (ABEP) system. Instead of carrying onboard propellant, the thruster captures atmospheric particles, ionises them using a helicon plasma process and expels them to generate continuous thrust. Combined with solar power, this means a satellite can sustain its orbit for years with no consumables. The result is 3x sharper imaging than conventional LEO satellites, direct-to-device connectivity without bulky ground antennas and natural deorbit at end of life with no debris left behind.

In September 2025, Kreios raised EUR 8 million in a seed round led by NATO Innovation Fund and JOIN Capital, bringing total funding to over EUR 10 million. The round will fund the company's first two test satellites, including what would be the first in-orbit demonstration of an ABEP engine. In the same month, Kreios partnered with Aistech Space and Telespazio Iberica on a satellite-based forest fire detection initiative.
