The core problem Unseenlabs addresses is that around 35% of ship positions are unknown or inaccurate at any given time. Vessels engaged in illegal fishing, sanctions evasion or other illicit activity routinely disable their AIS transponders to avoid tracking systems that rely on ships self-reporting their position. Unseenlabs' satellites don't need cooperation from the vessel — they passively detect the RF emissions that electronic equipment continuously produces, making concealment far harder.

The BRO constellation reached 20 satellites in orbit with the launch of BRO-19 in March 2026. Each satellite covers approximately 300,000 km² per collection pass and delivers lightweight data files compatible with standard GIS systems. In June 2025, Unseenlabs was selected by the European Space Agency as a Copernicus Contributing Mission (Category 1), affirming the constellation's role in European maritime surveillance. The company opened a commercial office in Singapore in February 2025 to expand its presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

Unseenlabs has raised €120 million in total funding, including an €85 million Series C in February 2024. The company employs 120+ staff and serves government agencies, fisheries monitoring bodies, marine insurers, offshore facilities operators, trade intelligence firms and NGOs that need persistent maritime domain awareness beyond what coastal radar or cooperative tracking can provide. A next-generation microsatellite constellation is in development, expanding detection to land and space domains alongside maritime.
