Croatia's defence tech sector is small but has two internationally known anchors. DOK-ING in Zagreb builds remote-controlled demining and combat support vehicles used by armed forces and civil protection agencies worldwide. Orqa in Osijek develops FPV video systems and pilot goggles that became widely used in drone warfare, turning a consumer FPV brand into a defence supplier.
The rest of the sector is built around soldier systems and protective equipment. Šestan-Busch (Prelog) is one of Europe's established suppliers of ballistic helmets, while Hemco, Kroko R&D and Spar-Tac produce protective and tactical equipment. Seacras in Zadar develops uncrewed surface vessels for maritime surveillance. Positions are spread across Zagreb, Osijek and smaller manufacturing towns rather than concentrated in one hub.
Croatian is the primary working language in manufacturing companies, though engineering teams at internationally focused firms often work in English. EU and EEA citizens can work freely. Non-EU nationals typically need an employer-sponsored work and residence permit.
