Job Description

Rollo Robotics is looking for a Dev Team Lead with a strong engineering background and the ability to lead and coordinate a multidisciplinary team. Your mission is to help take 1Rollo from R&D to a stable, tested product by aligning software, embedded systems, electronics, and hardware development. Previous leadership experience is not required. What matters is your ability to set priorities, delegate effectively, remove obstacles, and empower engineers to succeed as a team rather than solving every problem yourself.

Your Responsibilities

  • Engineering Leadership: Guide and support software, AI, and embedded engineers by setting clear priorities, defining responsibilities, providing feedback, and encouraging collaboration.

  • Delivery: Turn technical challenges into clear work packages with owners, dependencies, realistic timelines, and measurable outcomes.

  • System Integration: Coordinate the integration of software, embedded systems, electronics, and hardware in collaboration with technical specialists across the team.

  • Prioritisation: Keep the team focused on the most critical technical challenges that drive product development forward.

  • Quality & Validation: Work closely with the Quality team to define testing and validation criteria.

  • Technical Direction: Participate in architecture discussions, technical reviews, debugging strategies, and risk mitigation.

  • Communication: Provide management with clear and realistic updates on development progress, technical challenges, and risks.

What We Expect From You

  • Strong technical background in software development, embedded systems, robotics, or a related field.

  • Experience with hardware-software integration or complex physical products.

  • Strong prioritisation, planning, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage technical dependencies across different engineering disciplines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate, support, and guide other engineers.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with both senior engineers and management.

  • Taking responsibility for team delivery.

Preferred Technical Background

You do not need to be an expert in everything, but experience with some of the following is highly valuable:

  • C / C++

  • Embedded Linux

  • ROS / ROS 2

  • CAN bus

  • sensor integration, including cameras, LiDAR, and IMUs

  • Autonomous systems and robotics

  • Automotive, industrial automation, defence, or other high-reliability physical systems

Who We Are Looking For

You may already have leadership experience, or you may be an engineer ready to take the next step into a leadership role.

You are comfortable working with engineers who may have deeper technical expertise in their respective fields, and you know how to bring their strengths together.

You understand that effective leadership is not about solving every problem yourself, but about enabling the team to succeed.

Why Join Rollo Robotics?

  • Work on a real autonomous robot operating in the physical world.

  • Have direct influence on how the engineering team and development process evolve.

  • Work across software, AI, embedded systems, electronics, and hardware.

  • Take a key role in moving a deep-tech product from R&D towards real customer deployments.

  • Join a technically strong team where clear leadership, ownership, and collaboration matter.
