Lead Materials Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Materials Engineer to lead the development and scaling of materials and processes for our micro-tubular SOFC stacks. In this role, you will own the translation of laboratory methods into robust, repeatable processes: ensuring performance, durability, and manufacturability as we move from prototypes to commercialisation.

You will act as a technical leader in the R&D team, mentoring junior colleagues, coordinating with other disciplines, and taking responsibility for the success of materials-related work packages. Your expertise will directly shape our ability to deliver our novel fuel cell systems at scale.

Your tasks: Lead design and optimization of materials and deposition processes for electrolytes, electrodes, and coatings. Establish and refine manufacturing protocols and SOPs. Guide experimental campaigns. Collaborate with other teams to link materials and processes with fuel cell performance. Supervise and mentor technicians, interns, and junior engineers. Take ownership of project deliverables. Contribute to IP recognition.

Your qualifications: MSc or PhD in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field. 5+ years of experience in materials development in industrial or applied R&D. Strong track record in process development. Expertise in materials synthesis, deposition methods, and thermal processing. Hands-on proficiency with characterization methods (SEM, XRD, TGA/DSC). Fluent in English.
