Job Description

Do you want to work on a New Class of Unmanned Aircraft? Our product universe spans three different platforms with maximum take-off weights of up to 1000 kg and characteristic dimensions of 8 m: The hexacopter Grille for medical evacuation, the multi-role rotorcraft Wespe for logistics and support operations, as well as the fixed-wing drone Bussard for surveillance and intelligence missions. All systems are powered by RasCore, our highly redundant, military-grade avionics system for safe operations within EASA’s Specific Category. Three aircraft, one mission: to bridge the gap between small UAVs and traditional manned systems.

Description Are you ready to make a significant impact by integrating cutting-edge technology into critical military rescue operations? We are seeking a talented Mission Control and Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will help integrate a user-centered perspective into our products.

As part of our team, you will gain invaluable experience in full stack platform and application development, helping to advance the capabilities of our final product and grow your career. You will design, develop, and maintain applications running on Linux-based systems, working across a range of technologies and modern full-stack web frameworks. A key focus of the role will be building tools and services that transform flight and mission data into actionable insights for both internal development teams and external stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with engineers, operators, and domain experts, troubleshoot and optimize deployed systems, and contribute to the entire software life cycle from concept to deployment. You will also have the unique opportunity to follow operations on site and support the flight team, gaining first-hand insight into how your work enables mission-critical and life-saving operations. Tasks

  • Development and Design of Qt/C++ HMI Applications for Drone Control and Mission Management on Linux systems

  • Development of Angular/Java Add-ons for Web Applications

  • Development of Python-based backend services, tools, and workflows for collecting, processing, analyzing, and visualizing flight and mission data

  • Creation of data-driven workflows and analytics solutions that support both internal engineering activities and external customer-facing reporting

  • Collaboration with flight operations, engineering teams, and stakeholders to continuously improve mission performance through data-driven insights

Qualifications

  • Degree: MSc or similar

  • Experience: Hands-on experience in software development, preferably involving Linux-based systems, Python-based data analysis, backend/application development, databases, or full-stack web technologies

  • Technical Skills: Git, Python, SQL and SQL-based database systems, TypeScript, Java, C/C++, Qt, Linux, Docker

  • Knowledge: Understanding of / Interest in aircraft and flight operations, aviation, and mission-critical systems. Familiarity with data processing and analytics, network configuration, IP-based communications, and distributed software systems

  • Required for employment: Security clearance (Ü2-Sabotageschutz) approval (note: relationships in countries according to § 13 para. 1 no. 17 SÜG may result in a negative assessment)
