Job Description

We are currently searching for a Hardware Design Engineer to join our office in Rome within the Embedded Division.

The role focuses on contributing to the design of embedded systems, managing high-speed signals, developing power management solutions, and ensuring signal and power integrity. The role is involved in integration and testing laboratory activities, as well as in preparing detailed project documentation and participating in technical reviews with customers.

Responsibilities

HW & FW Design

  • Good knowledge of microprocessor architectures and design of analog and digital boards based on microcontrollers and/or FPGAs

  • Good knowledge in the use of Digital Signal Processing techniques and their implementation on FPGAs

  • Knowledge of the main communication bus for interfacing on-board and off-board peripherals

  • Circuit network simulation (PSpice)

  • Good knowledge of the DO-254 standard

  • Management of project documentation according to MIL-498 Standards

  • Embedded software development with C programming languages

  • VHDL and SOPC development on Vivado/Xilinx platform

  • Basic skills in HW Radio Frequency design

Integration and Testing

  • Perform integration and testing activities in a laboratory environment under the supervision of the Senior Hardware Engineer

  • Conduct thorough testing to validate design performance and reliability

Documentation

  • Prepare comprehensive project documentation, including technical data packages, production packages, test requirements and test procedures

  • Ensure all documentation meets industry standards and customer requirements

Customer Interaction

  • Present technical project reviews to customers, providing clear and concise explanations of design choices and progress

  • Address customer enquiries and use the feedback to improve the design

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Electronic/TLC Engineering or Electrical Engineering

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hardware design, preferably in aerospace applications

  • Proficiency in designing digital boards with FPGA and microcontrollers

  • Experience with impedance-controlled board design for high-speed signals

  • Knowledge of power management and distribution board design

  • Strong understanding of signal integrity and power integrity principles

  • Proficient in hardware simulation and analysis tools
