About the role

Design the electrical systems behind vehicles that protect lives.

We’re looking for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the development of advanced electrical systems for next-generation armoured military vehicles. You’ll play a key role in shaping the electrical architecture that supports mission-critical platforms, integrating technologies such as EMC, ECM/EECM protection, BOWMAN communication, situational awareness systems and complex automotive sub-systems.

This role will provide senior technical input and day-to-day design leadership within the electrical design function, working closely with the Design Manager and supporting the development of existing electrical design capability within the team.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of technical solutions, influence design direction and work closely with multidisciplinary teams to turn customer requirements into validated, field-ready systems. If you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges and delivering robust electrical designs with a clear real-world purpose, this could be the role for you.

  • Supportive environment – a team culture built on innovation, collaboration, and purpose

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead the electrical design process from concept through to detailed design, creating specifications, presenting design options and guiding solutions through the full design lifecycle. You’ll ensure electrical systems meet customer requirements, regulatory standards and operational needs, while balancing technical performance, reliability, manufacturability and through-life support.

Working closely with engineers, project managers, production teams, suppliers and customers, you’ll translate requirements into validated and verified designs. You’ll be a key customer-facing engineer, able to communicate complex technical information clearly and confidently while influencing decisions across multidisciplinary teams.

Your work will include prototype development, test definition, engineering change control and support for the legacy fleet. You’ll also manage CAD data, BoMs and drawing packs through PLM systems, helping ensure design information is accurate, controlled and ready for manufacture.

Creo experience is a mandatory requirement for this role. You must have demonstrable, hands-on experience using PTC Creo in a professional design environment. Candidates must be able to evidence practical Creo experience on their CV; candidates without Creo experience will not be considered.

Our team embraces modern technologies, including AI-assisted tools, to work smarter and deliver better results. Candidates should either have experience using AI tools or demonstrate a willingness to learn and apply them in their role.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for an experienced electrical design engineer who can take ownership of complex design activities, work confidently with customers and stakeholders, and deliver robust engineering solutions in a demanding technical environment.

Essential

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with internal and external stakeholders

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Desirable

  • Experience designing military vehicles or specialist vehicle electrical sub-systems

  • Familiarity with EMC, ECM/EECM, BOWMAN communication and situational awareness systems

  • Experience using the Creo Cabling Module or equivalent cable and harness design tools.

  • Experience managing product lifecycle and supply chain interaction

  • Experience using SolidWorks or Arcadia

  • Experience working with the UK MoD or supporting complex bid submissions
