Salary: £50K - £65K per annum (or pro-rata) + pension scheme and discretionary bonus

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent, part-time

Because of the nature of the work associated with this post, it is subject to special nationality rules and is restricted to individuals who are UK British Nationals. For this role, due to government security requirements, the term "UK Nationals" excludes anyone who is a dual national or naturalised British citizen (that is, originally a foreign national).

We maintain a flexible working policy to allow for hybrid working when appropriate. Teams typically spend around 60% of their time in the office, although this may vary depending on project and business needs. At times you may need to attend the office up to 5 days per week. This role will also require some travel both within and outside the UK.

Commercial Contracts Manager

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional to develop and apply their contract management skills while supporting high-profile programmes for US and international customers. Working closely with Business Development, Programme Management and Technical teams, you will contribute to the successful administration of customer contracts and commercial activities across the business.

Main Purpose of the Role

The US Contracts Manager will support the management and administration of customer contracts throughout their lifecycle. Working within established commercial processes and under the guidance of the Head of Commercial, you will help ensure contractual obligations are understood, documented and effectively managed.

The role provides exposure to a wide range of commercial activities, including contract administration, proposal support, customer engagement and risk management. It offers an excellent opportunity to build expertise in US Government and international contracting within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the administration and management of customer contracts from award through to completion.

  • Assist with contract amendments, task orders, extensions and change requests.

  • Work with Programme Managers, Technical Leads and Business Development teams to ensure contractual requirements are understood and effectively managed.

  • Maintain accurate contract records, documentation and commercial reporting.

  • Support customer communications relating to contractual and commercial matters.

  • Assist with the preparation and review of proposals, quotations and commercial submissions.

  • Help identify, record and manage commercial risks and opportunities.

  • Ensure contractual activities comply with company procedures and customer requirements.

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with customers, partners and internal stakeholders.

  • Support continuous improvement of commercial processes and contract management practices.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience in contract administration, commercial management, project management or a related business discipline.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.

  • Good commercial awareness and the ability to understand contractual obligations.

  • Ability to build effective working relationships with customers and colleagues.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance.

Desirable

  • Experience working within defence, maritime, engineering, technology or software environments.

  • Experience supporting customer contracts, proposals or commercial agreements.

  • Familiarity with government, public sector or regulated industry environments.

  • Exposure to US Government contracting or international customer contracts.

  • Understanding of contract change management and commercial risk management.

  • Degree in Business, Law or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
