Job Description
From powering space exploration and advancing medicine to enabling defense and shaping the optics inside everyday devices, our impact reaches far beyond today. Join the OPTOMAN team as a Head of Optical Production & Metrology.
Responsibilities
-
Lead and develop the Optical Production & Metrology Department as a whole, including its Team Lead(s) and specialist teams, driving department-level performance management (KPI ownership, escalation, and follow-up actions across teams).
-
Own department-level optical quality and metrology performance, accountable for key manufacturing KPIs (Just in Time, Just in Full, Yield, Rework) at department scale, and report results to Head of Manufacturing Division.
-
Build department capability by recruiting, developing, and coaching Team Leads and senior specialists, and by shaping the department's skills and succession pipeline.
-
Set and enforce cleanroom discipline, contamination control, and handling standards across all teams in the department.
-
Own the department's continuous improvement agenda: identify quality risks, structural process inefficiencies, and investment needs, and prioritize initiatives across teams.
-
Own escalation and final decision-making for optical quality issues and nonconformities across the department, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective and preventive action at scale.
-
Represent the department in cross-functional and strategic coordination with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Technical Sales, including on product and process qualification and capacity decisions.
-
Ensure department-wide reliability of measurement systems, documentation, and traceability, and own audit-readiness for the department.
-
Own qualification decisions for new products, suppliers, materials, and manufacturing processes from an optical quality and metrology perspective.
-
Drive Lean manufacturing standards (5S, standard work, waste reduction) as the department's operating discipline, not only within a single team.
** Core mission:** Build and lead a high-performing Optical Production & Metrology Department, spanning its Team Lead(s) and specialist teams, that consistently delivers reliable optical quality and metrology performance, develops internal leadership and expertise, and continuously improves processes, ensuring stable department-level manufacturing performance and customer satisfaction.
Required Superpowers
-
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Optics, Photonics, Engineering, or a related technical field (Master's is a plus).
-
8+ years of experience in a manufacturing, laboratory, optical, coatings, or quality-focused environment, including experience leading through other leaders (Team Leads or supervisors), not only individual specialists.
-
Experience owning department-level budget, headcount planning, or capital equipment decisions is a plus.
-
Strong understanding of quality control principles, process discipline, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies at multi-team scale.
-
Experience working with technical measurements, quality data analysis, and process performance indicators.
-
Ability to identify risks, prioritize activities, and make sound decisions across multiple teams in a fast-paced production environment.
-
Strong organizational, planning, and delegation skills, including delegating through Team Leads.
-
Experience driving process improvements and implementing standardized ways of working across a department.
-
Lithuanian C1-C2 and English B2-C1.
Rewards
-
Competitive compensation: salary band to be confirmed for this rung, expected above the Team Lead band of €3,500 to €4,800 gross, plus annual bonus scheme (final offer based on your expertise and scope).
-
€1,000 annual personal benefits budget (MELP): choose what fits you best, health insurance, 3rd pillar pension, or other wellbeing and perks.
-
Extra time off that grows with you: +1 paid day off on each work anniversary (up to 5 extra days), on top of standard annual leave.
-
Stock option opportunity: a chance to share in long-term value creation and contribute to meaningful growth initiatives.
-
Learning & growth support: a flexible L&D budget for relevant courses, certifications, workshops, and conferences (with a simple approval process).
-
Team & work support: a separate budget for team-building and work-related tools and items, plus an additional phone budget.
-
Great people, healthy culture: a supportive, collaborative team with a superhero mindset - we help each other win - plus company-wide events throughout the year.
-
Strong onboarding: structured onboarding, training, and dedicated mentors to help you ramp up smoothly.
-
Referral rewards & life moments: referral bonus for successful hires, and one-time support for special occasions (marriage, birth of a child, and other significant life events, per policy).
