Internship assignment: Hardware optimization, casting

VABO has been optimizing standard hardware component gradually over the last year. The conclusion of this process is that many hardware components used by VABO can be cheaper and lighter when casting is used instead of machining. Therefore VABO would like to investigate which component are eligible for casting and how they can be made lighter.

Within the project the student(s) will have to investigate the following:

• Investigate which components are eligible for casting

• Redesign and use FEA to verify components

• Make detailed cost/weight comparison with traditional methods

VABO states that the outcome of the project has to meet the following requirements:

• Components may under no circumstance be of lesser quality than the original component.

• Complete supply chain mapped out and components fully integrated in CaseMaster (VABO ERP-system)
